We took our son and his family on this cruise out of Barcelona. Boarding was simple and easy. Our rooms were ready by 1:00pm. Problem - I had made dinner reservations for 7:00pm anytime dining for 7 of us. It didn't appear on our daily planner so I checked with dinner reservations only to learn they changed our time without notifying me. When we questioned it, we were told to come at 6:30pm which was acceptable but each time we went to dinner, they asked if we talked to the maitre d like who approved this! Anyway, we were seated quickly each time. One thing I didn't like about the dinner were most large tables were rectangle, not round. For 7 people 1 person is out of the loop. Food was sometimes good and sometimes bad. The prime rib was terrible but the salmon was good. We had only 1 sea day so we knew we would be busy. The ports and our tours were great. The room was a balcony facing the boardwalk. The room was great but I wouldn't book that again as the shows and entertainment on the boardwalk was very loud and late into the night. There is a lot to do for kids and our grandchildren loved it. The water show and Mama Mia were terrific. We had a 7pm flight home and had to be off the ship by 9:30am. We did not get any help from Royal Caribbean as what options we had. Just told us you have to get off by 9:30am. At the port is a Gab n Go were you can drop you luggage and they will take it to the airport for you. 2 bag min. Great service as then we spent the day in Barcelona and later to the airport.
Wonderful cruise departing from and returning to Barcelona with stops in five ports – Palma de Mallorca, Provence (Marseille), Florence (La Spezia), Rome (Civitavecchia), and Naples. Very pleased overall with the cruise on Allure of the Seas, our stateroom, dining (especially main dining room), service provided by our waiter (Iketut), assistant waiter (Nilesh) and stateroom attendant (I Gede). Service in the main dining room was excellent. Iketut and Nilesh were exceedingly pleasant and helpful, and very attentive – especially with our young grandson. Embarkation and disembarkation both went smoothly. Good shore excursion options were offered. Disappointed the excursion we had reserved in Florence was canceled several days before we left for the cruise, but booked another one near Cinque Terra that was wonderful. Four of our tour guides were very informative and did a great job. The fifth guide (on-board the bus) for our excursion in Rome was only mediocre; the local guide was good and informative. The staff members with whom we interacted were pleasant, professional and very helpful.
The Allure of the Seas is a beautiful ship! It was clean and I loved the art deco! All crew members were amazing!! Shoutout to my stateroom attendants were Jamal and then Budi, everyone should be so lucky. I enjoyed sitting in on karaoke, listening to bands, watching the very talented & funny juggler, the riveting aquatics performance and the hilarious comedians. Dinners and buffet were always very good! I went on excursions, learning history and seeing spectacular sights. I met people from around the world, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Guest, Services is a well run operation, the ship was clean and someone was always cleaning the surroundings, the excusion section was well set-up & easy to navigate, and there was always someone to help. The crew was professional, friendly and funny! I had a balcony which I enjoyed having coffee and watching the sea. Allure of the Seas is a well-run city!
