A magical world of warmth and hospitality awaits every guest.

We booked MSC for the first time about 15 months in advance and got a very good package; balcony room with unlimited internet, $250 cabin credit, and mid-level drink package (since discontinued) for about $2,200 per person all in for a 10 night cruise. We thought the itinerary was very good, as although we went to countries we had visited before, we had never been to any of these 7 ports. Our cruise prior to this was on the Wonder of the Seas, so it was a stark contrast going back to a smaller ship. I will say that the Musica is an older ship, but it is impeccably maintained and very clean. I was impressed with the amount of seating areas and different lounges all around the ship. We never felt crowded anywhere, except for the pool deck, which did get full quickly on sea days. The cabin was comfortable, with the same amenities as you'd find on any other cruise line. Cabin service was excellent and we took advantage of the complimentary continental breakfast delivery every morning. As for the food, just about everything we ate at the main restaurant was excellent. The prime rib was the only poor dinner entree, as it was more like roast beef. Otherwise, all of the choices were flavorful and well presented. The lunch buffet however, was average at best. Very few variations from day to day and the quality was equally average. Two highlights of the buffet were the pizza (outstanding) and just about any soup they served. We varied our breakfasts at the restaurant and at the buffet and I will say that both were very good. In the restaurant you can get an order (a very large portion) of smoked salmon, which is not available at the buffet. One suggestion for MSC would be to add bagels and cream cheese to the menu to go along with the salmon. We had to request toasted english muffins and I think the cream cheese was more like ricotta cheese. After reading some of the negative reviews on here about the entertainment, I was not expecting much. I have to say that I don't understand how anyone can say they weren't entertained on this ship. Every night there is a wonderful variety show in the theater at two different times, for early and late diners. While the shows were not at the same level of Royal Caribbean's extravaganza water show or drone show, we thoroughly enjoyed every evening's show. There were singers, dancers, acrobats, and a ventriloquist who spoke 5 languages. All were very talented and left the theater to a standing ovation every night. As for poolside, there were dance classes and tons of games, song trivia, soccer kick, putting game, and all presented by an energetic group of entertainment staff. Lastly, one of the things we enjoyed the most about the cruise was the variety of different cultures among the passengers. With the ship picking up and dropping off passengers in almost every port, there were Portuguese, Spaniards, Italians, French, and Germans that made up the majority of the passengers. This made for interesting conversations and interactions with fellow passengers, even if we couldn't communicate fully in each other's language. This is why we travel isn't it? To learn and experience different cultures is the best part of it all. We'd book another MSC cruise and we're looking at itineraries right now.
