Embarkation easy. We were on G deck with a window, just below the Rising Sun. Could be a bit noisy (chairs scraping) until midnight. We also heard passengers leaving the headliner theatre around 11.30pm. However, it was actually a very good location, close to the main bars, palladium etc. Cabin, fine. A bit dark (need lights around the mirror in the cabin) and a lack of plug sockets for the modern technologies we need! Cabin steward very good. We asked for extra hangers, milk etc. Small ship which looked in good order, cozy areas and in good repair (just had a renovation). Not as glam as Arvia (but I feel like Arvia is all fur coat and no knickers)! I'd definitely recommend Arcadia. It did cater for an older crowd but I'm in my 50s and didn't feel too young! Used gym and spa. Great facilities. We watched the sunset over Oslo whilst chilling on the heated beds in the spa! Ship was full, being a Christmas cruise, so there were some issues getting a drink at the bars (nothing like Arvia in the summer which was impossible)! P&O you need a few extra bar staff on all ships! We would drink more if we could find seats/get service! Also, husband likes the beers in the Rising Sun but we don't like spending time in that particular bar, please serve the same drinks menu in all the bars, it's very frustrating! Staff were very good and worked hard. Most of them had a genuine smile and positive attitude. Rachel on dining reception remembered our names and made us feel special. Food was traditional P&O fayre in the MDR. The buffet was poorly laid out and busy. They did a great job with Christmas dinner. Entertainment in the theatre was excellent. Headliners Queen tribute was outstanding but Jayson Keeler of Cry Red (fantastic vocal range), the Unbelievable show, Eric and Little Ernie and the panto were all fabulous. Christmas was definitely in evidence on Arcadia! There were lots of little extra touches and celebrations which made it special! I think no one does Christmas better than the British and it showed that P&O understood their customers in this regard. Gifts, Santa, Elves and Carols are just a few of the Christmas surprises we had! Now a negative: The ship was very, very cold when at ports as the doors were open so take big jumpers if you want to sit in the bars on those days. It did make it's uncomfortable. The rest of the time, it was a pleasant temperature. (the screening room was uncomfortably hot on the one occasion we used it). All in all, I would absolutely reccomended a Christmas cruise on Arcadia.
